We are delighted to share that, as a result of our response plan, staff actions, and your valuable cooperation, we have seen a significant decrease in infectious diseases commonly seen in group care and have remained at low risk for COVID-19 exposure. We are very grateful for your support and flexibility and for the trust you continue to place on us to care for your loved ones.
Also, thank you for taking the time to complete our latest survey, as always, your feedback is beneficial to our operations. Based on your comments, we are addressing some issues that were evident to our families; your comments and recommendations are invaluable to us, so we want to hear from you at any time.
Due to the unprecedented challenges our community is facing this year, we have decided to waive our annual re-registration fee for 2020, we hope this will provide some relief during these difficult times.
We have received new regulation from the State of Virginia Department of Social Services applicable to our current and future operations:
- The possession of a firearm is prohibited on the property of public, private, or religious preschools and licensed child care centers.
- Non-custodial parents cannot be denied access to their children’s records unless otherwise explicitly ordered by the court or prohibited by law.
- The authority to license and regulate child care programs will be transferred from the Board of Social Services and Department of Social Services (DSS) to the Board of Education and the Department of Education (DOE). The Board of Education will establish a statewide, unified public-private system for early childhood care and education and a transition plan. This regulation has a delayed effective date of July 1st, 2021. We will share more details as they become available.
Again, we thank you for your continued patronage. If you have any questions, concerns, or comments, please contact your Center Director or me at gille@project.designschoolbd.com. I hope we hear from you soon.
Respectfully,
Gille Baez
Operations Director
