Earlier today the Virginia Governor, Ralph Northam, announced a statewide order to protect the health and safety of Virginians and to reduce the spread of the COVID-19 by ordering the closure of certain non-essential business, banning all gatherings of more than 10 people, and closing all K-12 schools for the remainder of the academic school year. It was reassured by the Governor the importance of the services provided by child care centers to support essential personnel and first responders.
Sparkles! Centers will remain open to support the families that have the need for care as we continue to follow the current mandates from the Department of Social Services (DSS). Essential employees have the priority of care; however, if you are not considered an essential employee but have the need for care, please contact your Center Director. We have spaces available in some classrooms while still following the mandate for essential personnel and the 10 individuals per classroom.
For the families that are keeping their children home, and are reserving their spaces, we are extending the 50% Vacations Discount. Please contact your Center Director for additional details regarding this benefit.
Parents have been reaching out to us interested in knowing about the staff situation and protection. We want to thank you for your concerns during this challenging time and appreciate your support. We are working hard to provide as much support to our staff as possible. Today with additional disenrollments and requests of vacation discounts from many of our families, with no other options, we have been forced to modify work schedules and cut some hours. These cuts are spread amongst the staff and are strictly on an as-needed basis.
At this time, we have many staff members on leave because of various reasons but rest assured, all of our staff members should be able to return to work once this national crisis is resolved. We hope that these measures are for a short period of time, as we understand the great impact these adjustments can have on everyone’s livelihood.
As this situation continues to evolve, we will keep our families informed of any additional changes. Thank you in advance to our families for your cooperation and partnership. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your Center Director or me directly at email@example.com.
